dailydoseTrick Yourself Into Drinking Less: We’ve all had one of those awful hangovers that makes you want to give up drinking forever. Doctors explain that reliving a negative experience is enough to avoid another one in real life. It turns out, though, that you don’t actually need to be hungover to get the benefits of this mind trick. If you’re trying to cut back on the booze, all you need to do is imagine that you’re hungover. In a study at the University of Washington, participants who thought about a hangover experience had a 20 percent decrease in their desire to drink. This percentage was the same whether the people thought about a real hangover experience or made one up.  The opposite is true, too — thinking about that awesome time you had chugging beers at a party will make you more likely to pick up another can. The Nasty Truth About the Cinnamon Challenge: The “Cinnamon Challenge,” a dare popular high school boys, involves swallowing a spoonful of ground cinnamon in under 60 seconds. The Challenge has been around for years, but an increasing number of teens have needed medical attention after attempting the dare in the past few years. According to the American Association of Poison Control Centers, 222 people called a poison control center after swallowing the cinnamon, up from only 51 in 2011. Cinnamon is made from tree bark, which contains fibers that don’t break down easily. Swallowing an entire spoonful of cinnamon can lead to choking, throat irritation, problems breathing, and even collapsed lungs.
