The Best Teas to Drink This Winter

Now that Halloween is over, there is excitement and anticipation for the holidays. November 1st marked the day that Starbucks started using their special red holiday cups. Warming yourself up this winter with a flavored tea is a great way to get into the holiday spirit. Change up your normal coffee routine and try something healthy for you!

Here are some of the best teas for your health:

  • Chamomile tea: It’s good to drink a cup of chamomile tea 30 minutes before bed. It can help relax your muscles for better sleep. It also has calming effects, which can help reduce your overall stress. It lacks the caffeine that is found in traditional teas. A delicious chamomile tea is Celestial Seasonings Sweet Apple Chamomile tea. Try mixing in a spoonful of honey.
  • Peppermint tea: It may speed up digestion which would help with weight control. Digestive problems can make it so that your body does not take in the nutrients from your food that it needs. This can lead to cravings. If you do not have any digestive problems, then your food cravings will be suppressed, leading to overall weight control. Pour yourself a cup of Twinnings Pure Peppermint tea.
  • Green tea: This tea can help increase your metabolism. It has the best proven effects if you drink it before a workout. Green tea is also beneficial for a healthy heart. Try drinking 2-3 cups of Bigelow Green Tea.
  • White tea: It has a lighter taste than green or black tea. It prevents cancer because of its increased antioxidants that fight off harmful cells. If you like the taste, and want to reap its benefits, then try The Republic of Tea’s Honeydew White. You will have a stronger immune system.

Beware of instant teas, which lack many of the ingredients found in real teas. Also, make sure you are not adding packets of sugar to your tea because that will defeat some of the health benefits. Steep your tea for 3-5 minutes and drink two cups a day for the best results.
