Get Out and Explore

With the weather getting nicer everyone wants to spend some time outside.  Why not enjoy the nice weather by taking a break from your work, and explore some areas outside of Syracuse?  You can even get in a work out while working on your tan.

Pratt’s Falls

There are some beautiful waterfalls in the Syracuse area, one of which being Pratt’s Falls.  The falls are about 25 minutes south of Syracuse in Pompey, New York.  Pratt’s Falls are easily seen from the parking lot, but there are several trails that go through the woods nearby and lead to a pond above the falls.  The park is open year round and there are picnic tables so you can bring a snack with you.  For more information on the park go here.

Skaneateles

Almost every student at Syracuse University knows of Skaneateles, but how many of you have actually been there.  The town is right on Skaneatles Lake and is about 30 minutes from Syracuse.  One great walking area is the pier, where you can get a great view of the lake, but there are also jogging paths.  To know some more about Skaneatles check out their website.

Chimney Bluffs State Park

Chimney Bluffs State Park is about an hour from Syracuse, but it’s definitely worth the drive.  This park is right on Lake Ontario, and the view from the bluffs gives an ocean feel.  There are several different trails that wind through the park.  The most popular trail leads up to the bluffs, down towards the shoreline, and then goes inland through a wooded area, which ends at the official visitor center.  During the spring many wildflowers are in bloom, which add to the natural beauty of the park.  For more information check out the park’s website.
