Finding Your Balance from A to Chi: Getting Over an Ex

College is supposed to be the best four years of your life, so why not love every minute of it?

Especially after a long-term relationship, it is never easy to move on. There are always those lingering feelings and constant reminders of “what was.” While moving forward may be hard, there are easy ways to help you embrace your new single lifestyle. By letting go of the past, you will be able to open a new door to your future.

Nothing is worse than looking at old photos, presents, and mushy text messages from your ex. While you may have shared many happy times together, these things are a constant reminder of your past relationship. Even though you don’t have to get rid of these things, you have to be able to separate what was and what is. Having that anchor holding you down only inhibits you from meeting other people, and it doesn’t allow you to move on with your life.

While it is necessary to give yourself some time before entering into another relationship, you should never hold yourself back from exploring your options. Now that you are single, embrace every moment of just being you. Spend time with your friends and have fun, becoming more comfortable with your new-found freedom. After a while, you’ll be able to return to a sense of normalcy without your ex in your life.

Breakups are never easy, but they are a part of life. Even if you look back on some relationships with regret, you have to remember everything happens for a reason.
